What should you ask about your oral surgeon?
Be skeptical of whose who promote themselves as an “implantologist” and if their sole training is a General Practice Residency (GPR), or hospital dentist. Although these individuals may be pleasant and affordable, they do not get the intensity of experience or length of training that a Board Certified MD or Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon does. The success of your surgery depends on the training and experience of your Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and Restorative Dentist/Dental Specialist working as a team.
A GPR (General Practice Residency) trained dentist are those who go one or two years of training beyond dental school ad are not Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons/Oral Facial Surgeon, but basically a dentist who has minimal dental privileges in the hospital setting. They cannot directly admit you to the hospital or perform medical procedures upon you if needed.

All staff are intensely trained and informed administrative personnel, well-versed in health and insurance policies, and all are CPR certified. Our doctor lectures nationally on surgical airway management and is Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certified. This should give you comfort about the safety of your procedure.
